What we collect

To run your account and the daily puzzle we store: your email address, a hashed password (we never see the plaintext), a username you choose, and your puzzle history (guesses, solve status, points). We also receive standard request metadata such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps when you use the site, and we use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to collect anonymized, aggregate usage data. We do not sell your data and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.

Where it's stored

Account and gameplay data are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider. The site is hosted on Vercel. Both providers maintain their own privacy and security policies, which apply alongside this one.

Cookies

We use first-party cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to maintain your session. We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising.

Your choices

You can delete your account at any time by emailing the address below; this will remove your profile, puzzle history, and authentication record. You may also request a copy of the data associated with your account.

Security

We take reasonable, industry-standard steps to protect your data, including HTTPS-only transport, password hashing handled by our authentication provider, row-level database access controls, rate limiting, a content security policy, and optional captcha protection on sign-up. No service can guarantee perfect security. By creating an account you acknowledge that you provide your information at your own risk and that no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Terms of use

Ball Knowledge is a hobby project provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. You agree not to attempt to disrupt the service, automate scraping or guessing, abuse other users, or use the site in violation of any applicable law. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Statistics shown on the site come from the MLB Stats API. Ball Knowledge is not affiliated with or endorsed by Major League Baseball or the MLB Players Association.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ball Knowledge and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the site — including, without limitation, any damages arising from unauthorized access to or alteration of your data, any data breach or security incident, downtime, bugs, or the conduct of any third party on or off the site. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

You agree to indemnify and hold harmlessthe operators of Ball Knowledge from any claim, loss, or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of your breach of these terms or your misuse of the site.

Data breach notice

If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users by email and to comply with applicable breach-notification laws. Beyond those legal obligations, we make no representations or warranties regarding the prevention of, response to, or consequences of any unauthorized access.

Changes

We may update this page from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the effective date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
